TV PROMOS
World TeamTennis // Creative Direction & Execution // 1 Week Avg.
As Creative Director of World TeamTennis, one of my most exciting tasks was getting TV Promos, sizzle reels, end slates, and other television-related graphics ready. While coming up with a concept and coordinating efforts with production can end up taking some time, the average time spent on each of these videos once the highlight videos were sent my way was about a 1 week including all revisions.
After a successful 2018 season, the next logical step towards growth was to bring in bigger sponsors. Our mission would be to create a sizzle reel for the sales team to pitch WTT. Teaming up with production, I was able to add font treatment, player announcements, broadcast partners, and an end slate to tell a more complete story. All graphics were added after receiving the initial edited video from production.
Momentum and excitement was on our side for the 2020 season. We had worked hard over the last few months in 2019 to add an All-Star game to the 2020 season slate and now we were tasked with creating a promo video for the season opener. Having already taped the All-Star game we had great footage to use. Once again I teamed up with production to create this video to air on CBS. The end slate, of the dates counting up, was an one I had used the previous year which was specifically requested for this promo video. The team logo glitches I added was a new graphic which I felt would tie it to the sizzle real we had created before.
Being recognized for an outstanding job on your first year is always an honor. When I was brought on at the beginning of 2019, WTT had been around for 40+ years but not many people knew about it. My goal in rebranding WTT was to bring all it's graphics up to date and align it with the vision Billy King had originally set out for WTT. Progressive and Revolutionary. After finding out about the nomination, I took it upon myself to create this video using some of the photos from our media day shoots & news headlines from around the web. For the message, I wanted the world to know WTT was here not only to be a player, but to EVOLVE THE GAME.
After filming the 2020 All-Star Match in March, CBS had asked us if we had a :30 promo spot for them to use. Prodoction did a great job of putting together the highlight video and all I need to do to finish it was add the lower third and provide an end slate in the "All-Star" look. These promos would not only live on the network side but also in our digital properties and online, so I had to create an endslate for every superstar in attendance!
